SPRING 2026

Please read through everything below before continuing with your registration.

If you have been placed on a waitlist, that means we have too many players for the existing number of teams, but not enough yet to form another team. If we add enough players to form another team by 3/24, then you will be added to the active roster. If you don’t, your player fees will be refunded. You will be emailed either way.

We WILL NOT honor requests for training on specific nights, but we will allow you to select one night you cannot practice during registration.

We DO NOT take requests for coaches or to play with another player, for any reason. While it is not guaranteed, we try to keep rosters the same from the fall season, as long as the coach is returning.

New players will be randomly assigned to a team without regard to their abilities and skills. Rosters will then be balanced for gender and age. We will then assign coaches to teams based on training nights. Players of coaches will be on their teams.

COMBINED PAYMENT OPTION: For those who registered and paid for the combined fall/spring payment option, you DO NOT need to register again. You have automatically been registered for the spring season.

Welcome to the 2026 Spring Season of Springfield FC’s Rec Academy. The spring season kicks off with the first games being played on April 11th and concludes with the final games the weekend of May 16-17. Training will begin the week of April 6th. Your player’s coach will be assigned a night and time for training, and will communicate this to you.

Training and matches are primarily held at Homecoming Park in Springfield Township, with games being played on Saturdays. Our 9v9 and 11v11 teams may travel to other communities to play parts of their schedule and may have games on Saturdays and Sundays.

Once your player has been assigned to a team, your coach will reach out to you. This is typically 7-10 days before our first games. If you haven’t heard from a coach by March 29th, please reach out to us at info@springfieldfc.club. We will not respond to requests asking what team your player is on before then.

COACHES

All of our teams are coached by volunteer coaches, and it is essential that we have enough coaches so we can create teams with reasonable roster sizes. If we don’t have enough coaches, we won’t turn players away, we will just make bigger teams. If you would like to volunteer to coach, you can do so during the registration process.

All Coaches and Assistant Coaches must go through the Ohio Soccer Association Safe Soccer process to be eligible to coach. This process includes a background check and several training courses, which can take several hours to complete. There are NO exceptions. You can start the risk management process on your GotSport Dashboard in your Profile.

Coaches will be chosen after teams have been built based on what night/team your player landed on (instead of the other way around). In other words, after teams have been formed, the “head coach” and “assistant coach” will be chosen for each team based on the players on each team. Teams can only have one (1) assistant coach assigned to them. As always, if you volunteer as a head coach, one player that you coach will play for free. There is no discount for assistant coaches.

If there are more registered coaches than available teams, coaches will be selected in the following manner (assuming the coach is in good standing with SFC):

  1. Returning coaches from the prior season (e.g., for Spring registration, these are coaches who coached the immediate prior Fall season).
  2. Returning coaches from the prior seasonal year (e.g., coaches who coached at some point the prior Fall/Spring seasonal year).
  3. All other coaches.

This criterion is used only until rosters are formed.

We do not take requests for coaches to have specific players on their team, no matter the reason.

REQUIRED EQUIPMENT

  • Players need a reversible black and white SFC jersey top. If you do not have a reversible jersey, one can be purchased for $20. Jerseys will be available at the SFC garage on game days.
  • The rest of the jersey requirements are BLACK shorts and BLACK or BLUE socks.
  • Shin guards must be worn at all times while on the soccer pitch, beneath the player’s socks.
  • Soccer cleats are optional but strongly encouraged; no baseball or football cleats are allowed.
  • Players must have a soccer ball to participate in training.

REFUNDS

We do not offer refunds if your child does not play or withdraws for any reason. This includes injuries, scheduling conflicts, disinterest, and anything else that would keep your child from finishing the season. While we regret that injuries or other unfortunate situations come up, this does not change our fixed costs for delivering a season for all.

If you have chosen the combined season payment option, no part of the player fee will be refunded for any reason. If your child is unable to participate in the spring season for any reason, the spring portion of the fee IS NOT eligible for a refund. Please consider this carefully before registering your child and choosing the combined option.

SFC will not honor requests for training on specific nights. We will, however, give you the opportunity to select one night you cannot practice during registration. We cannot guarantee that you will not be scheduled to practice that night, but we will do our best to accommodate the request. We also will not honor refunds for this reason, so please carefully consider this before registering.
